
The wooden cone of Sentry II emits a sharp “Shhh!” in response to loud noises in its presence. A glowing red light, visible through a resin band around the cone, fades on and off to remind the viewers of the cone’s constant vigilance. The work relegates discussion about itself and the space it occupies to soft whispers. As a result, viewers become aware of the tangled relationship between themselves, the gallery space, and the object.
